Update 4/1/2020
I am writing to share some important updates.  First, I wanted to thank each and EVERY Drifter parent. You have demonstrated patience and understanding during this COVID-19 crisis. We appreciate each of you. Also, a special thank you to volunteers that have stepped up to support the meal service program.

Secondly, I wanted to update the school community on the division plan for spring break. After careful consideration of the educational plans each school has put forth during this pandemic, we are going to recognize a modified schedule for spring break.

CBPS will be recognizing Spring Break beginning on Thursday, April 9th through Monday, April 13th. Teachers will not complete any instruction during this time, and students should not have any task assigned.  This modified schedule protects the hard work that teachers have put forth in developing learning plans for students. It will also provide a break for parents who are attempting to manage student assignments and work expectations. Our school family is now just becoming acclimated to this new expectation of learning, and I am fearful we will lose our momentum. The modified schedule also allows the division to continue the meals program, even if it is only for a few days. The division will not serve meals from April 9th-13th.

The elementary packet pickup date for Monday, April 13th, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 14th.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or our building principals if you have any questions.

Again, Thank you for your consideration, time, and effort.

Today, Governor Northam announced that schools across the state of Virginia would be closed for the remainder of the academic year. CBPS understands that you will have a lot of questions regarding our education plan for students, continuing our meal service program, and for our 2020 Seniors, graduation. Tomorrow, we expect to receive official guidance from the Virginia Department of Education providing schools with the information needed to address your concerns. Please know that during this difficult time, our goal remains the same. We will work hard to provide our students with the best educational experience possible. I encourage parents to check the division website and Facebook page daily for updates on educational plans for CBES and CBHS. Continue to stay safe.
